Sequential Injection Syringe for Bioassay Development
AI Biosciences, Inc. has developed a low-cost and rugged syringe that can deliver fluids sequentially without an external valve control. It can be utilized either as a stand-alone disposable fluid delivery syringes, or incorporated into meso or microfluidic subsystems for research instruments or miniaturized point-of-care instruments. The key advantage of this syringe is that it can deliver flow rates as low as tens of uL/min to a few mL/min using a single commercial syringe pump or programmable step-motor. The syringe can easily implement fluid delivery in the order and speed selected by the users without bulky controllers and multiple connectors. The syringes can be readily customized by the users for specific applications. This design is also being explored for use in delivery of multiple drugs in sequence using a single infusion pump.

- It is a valve-less configuration. The partitioning rubber stoppers also act as the valves.
